The new free psychedelic country rock single from rock / usadown, a collaboration between founding love 666 members Joe Johnson (guitar, vocals) and Dave Unger (electronic sound), from the forthcoming album ‘double free’. Based on a simultaneous combination/recombination/remix of two usadown records – the unreleased, long-lost and recently found ‘the way of the future’ and ‘drugs’, with Angel from love 666 on drums, both recorded at Omega Recording Studios, Rockville, MD. double free breaks new ground in terms of free mixing technique. usadown was an early pioneer of out-of-sync and free mixing, with some experimental material such as ‘there’s no town (on the edge of darkness)’ and ‘police state of mind’ possibly still circulating online. The first rock / usadown collaboration was the independent release ‘this is the new american national anthem’, a 45-minute free noise take excerpted from an archive of basement jams recorded on a boombox. The new sound is more spaced out and laid back. Indie rock hits, new connections, drugs/love/drugs, makes you feel cool when you’re really down.
