Markus Reineke and Frank Wilke are working together for almost five years, mostly in a context of free improvisation (brass, flutes, electronics).

Some time ago we became interested in working with text/graphic scores, chance operations and pre-structurings in our regular improvisation practice.

Here, we fixed the following predeterminations for our improvisation:

1. we both, independently, choose an artwork of the Munich based artist Volker Moellenhoff www.volkermoellenhoff.de and interpret it as a prose/graphic score
2. we work purely electronically

- Frank chose "yes to all"
www.volkermoellenhoff.de/yes-to-all.html with the single line of text "When attitudes became content". He derived the "attitudes" from four repetitive patches for digital modular synthesizer, which he processed during the improvisation.
Interspersed are anonymous snippets from random streaming sources, representing the "content".

- Markus Reineke pre-recorded an improvisation for analogue modular synth, chose "err"
www.volkermoellenhoff.de/err.html and interpreted it as a graphic score, with the segments representing time brackets filling up the length of the prerecording. Via chance operations, he assigned a sound quality (silence, noise, pulses, sine tones, percussive sounds) to each segment, and improvised to this score on digital synth.

This resulted in a live studio recording of these four layers in six parts, lasting 68 minutes in total, which we left completely unedited and unprocessed.

Big thanks to Volker Moellenhoff who gave us permission to use his two works.
