Nurses With Knives is an Industrial/Noise/Dark Ambient project led by Mono Eye started in
2009. Although started as a side project and many early web label flittings with previous
collaborator Pirtek (one of which saw a collaborative release of the two being bought out on
a label NWK had previously been “banned” from), the project takes extended hiatuses from
time to time but has re-emerged as the one true project of the author as of 2014- onwards.
NWK played one unsuccessful gig in Leeds with visual artist Karl Whiting in 2014, in which
the intensity of their performance and Karl’s ability to disturb crowds with his unique
performance of spoken word resulted in the duo being told to stop the performance. The two
would release a few recorded efforts and remain amicable, although would never play live
again.
Since the dissolution of previous projects which appeared in numerous breakcore myspace
circles, NWK has often been used to serve as an alternative creative source to the artist's
notoriety in poetry and spoken word circle and with music continues to delve deeper into
what they call " specialized mind science in the study of human behaviour in relation to the
mind" by releasing a wave of releases with music ranging from Dark Ambient, Extratone,
Trip Hop, Hauntology and Noise to various web labels far and wide through the useage of
manipulated samples, recordings of record static and found sounds.
Although not able to reach the critical acclaim of previous projects in 2020 due to personal
interests, a small renewed interest followed in the project occurred after a slew of
audiovisual performances and mixes for the US-based community arts project HEADLESS
BLOOD IDOL.
This release is a selection of old and new tracks (hence the titled “abandoned art”) which are
personal favourites and have been curated from past releases by the author himself.
NWK would like to thank Caged Element (creation of the previously mentioned “Pirtek”) for
participation in this release.
NWK again may return in the future, but all as late is uncertain.
