about

From 2013 to 2019, as a Professor of Recording Techniques and Music Production in the Acoustic Engineering course in Santa Maria-RS, I was absorbed by a scene that contained a lot of instrumental, experimental, and unconventional music (Minimalist, Atonal and Noise). With the partnership of the intuitive Ardais and the revolutionary Max Chami, a door was opened for the freejazz and avant-garde music scene in Porto Alegre-RS.

At this time, in addition to Ardais and Max, I met other great musicians, including Emmanuel Ribas, the Plank, from the band "Instrumental Jazz Connection". I spent a few years pestering Plank to play, do a freejazz (only sax and drums) in other cities I lived in, I even tried to call someone else, but it never worked.

In 2022, in the city of Frederico Westphalen-RS, now as a Professor of Physics and Transport Phenomena in the Sanitary and Environmental Engineering course, I met a talented young, who was not intimidated in improvising masterfully, in our first meeting.

Practically all the spontaneous music we played were recorded with my cell phone and based on these recordings, we decided to re-record them with better quality and precision. It was at that moment that the genius of Augusto, aged 16, became evident with the piano guides.

So, after several trips, I named the project FW Connection and, in 2023, I began the saga of recording the album: "Waltz is back!" I managed to re-record only 3 songs, I waited for the other piano guides, but they didn't come. The album project “Waltz foi embora” remained in the drawer, titled “Things we missed”. So, I started a new project, swapping the piano for the guitar.

After my last US-BRA connection, this time it was Plank's turn, taking the relaxing bus trip from Santa Maria-RS to FW-RS for a freejazz performance, just Sax and Drums. However, as Plank had already heard the version I produced of “Downtown” with Pedro Martins, aged 19, from Panambi-RS, on guitar, Plank himself suggested trying to recruit Pedro to improvise on some standards.

Along with recordings of the atmosphere ambient of various locations introduced as a kind of prelude to each theme, I chose 3 songs that we played on the night of 7/24/2023 at “Toca do Urso”, as a Bonus Track to finish the album Things we missed, especially for Muteantsounds Noise Netlabel. Ora ie ie ô!

And FW Connection's second album, Downtown, which is an album, with reinterpretations of songs by friends, countrymen and brothers from Rock bands who I played with (from 1995 to 2000), to create rapport with the talented guitarist Pedro, it is practically ready, in the mixing and mastering phase, scheduled for release in 2024.
